How is this possible?
Five years ago the payback on investment to put in solar panels was 6-10 years. Today, there is a negative payback. The Missouri legislature requires KCP&L, and other utilities to provide a rebate. In the last year, the price solar panels dropped tremendously, and we can buy and install the system for less than the rebate. Missouri is the only state in the US that hasn’t lowered their rebate since the drop in price. It’s unlikely the full rebate will be in effect past 2013.
